Simple stop
Do try and get used to stopping before going too fast - many beginners just plow into the wall, which isn't of any use if you should find yourself heading towards someone on the floor.
Performed easily at slow speeds, while slightly more tricky when done fast, the simple, standard ice skating stop involves bringing the toes of both blades inwards and tilting the outside edge of the blades upwards.
This creates enough friction on the ice to gradually slow down the skater. Once perfected, this simple ice skating stop can be used to slow down quite quickly.
