Ice Skating Hockey Stop

Probably the most popular 'show off' ice skating skill around, the hockey stop isn't at all subtle, making a very loud scraping sound when performed at high speed. Apart from showing off, it's also useful to learn as it allows you to stop from any speed very quickly.

The principal of the hockey stop is very simple, involving just a quick twist of both ankles to the side. As the skater progresses, it's possible to do this at higher speed, leaning back further, using more of the blade edges, therefore digging into the ice more, stopping faster and spraying up ice.
