Birmingham Ice Skating

Birmingham has been without an ice rink since 2003, when the Planet Ice owned ice rink on Pershore Street was closed after a fire destroyed the inside of the building. Because of this, Birmingham remains the only major city in the UK without a permanent ice rink - the only opportunity for skating being the annual temporary Christmas ice rink 'Street Ice'.

If you like ice skating as much as we do or would like to enjoy a sport where you can have fun with your friends or family while getting exercise, please consider adding your name to our petition or providing us with a small donation.

Why do we want an ice rink so much?

  • Ice skating is a great, fun sport suitable for everyone - you can go with your family and your children during the day, or you can go in the evening with your partner or your friends, for an ice disco.
  • It creates a really good social atmosphere, bring all communities together to have fun and enjoy themselves.
  • It creates an alternative social activity allowing you to have fun and relax, while getting lots of exercise.

We've also now got a concise list of ice rinks around the country. If you know of any perminant ice rinks missing from our list, please let us know. We're also interested in hearing about temporary ice rinks being set up for the holiday period.
